Intro:
Ah, New York. The city of life, the city of opportunity, the city of...Angels and Demons?
Yes. For the past three years, a war has raged on between the Angels of Heaven and the Demons of Hell, started when Lucifer got fed up with being stuck in his literal hell hole and decided to take his revenge out on the gods. For centuries, Lucifer had been slowly collecting souls using his faithful follower, the Grim Reaper, and has built up his own private army of demons.
When he launched his attack, Heaven was caught completely off guard, and, so far, the demons are winning with staggering ruthlessness and efficiancy, taking souls of mortals and enlisting them in the demonic armies. Heaven quickly mobilized all its Guardians and Soldiers, but there weren't enough. They have taken to establishing Training Schools in Heaven to train angels in the arts of War.
Recently, the battle, already bad for the good guys, has taken a turn for the worse. Demons are clever creatures, and many of the world's scientists were banished to Hell for renouncing the gods. There, they have been helping Lucifer in his quest to take over heaven.
A little over a month ago, the demonic scientists had developed a machine that, when implanted in demons, would tap into thair powers and allow them to steal the souls of angels themselves, previously immune to such tactics, and corrupt their minds and hearts, transforming them into demonic warriors. They have been successful enough to take a dozen angels, who now lead their evil side in battle.
Angels are naturally more powerful that demons, but these transformed angels, called BlackGuards, retain their angelic bodies and powers, making them equal to Heaven's angels.
This war is taking place all over the world, but our story will begin among the ruins of NYC.

(((Ummm...Most of it's rubble, but a few decrepit building are still standing. Most people have either been killed or have fled...But, for the sake of the RP, a few can have stuck around...Just picture what it would be like if a full-scale war has been going on between two superpowers for three years! ^-^u)))

(((*Drum roll* Alrighty! The big start to the Demon/angel RP has begun!)))
A lone figure crept through the shadows silently. He despised his underhanded tactics, but he knew it was necessary if he wasn't to go completely insane. He was hiding.
Not from demons...but from angels. He wasn't a demon, though. In fact, he was an angel!
Kratos Aurion stopped, and leaned against the wall, sliding down to the ground silently. I...should be safe here...He was in the ruins of what was once the Empire State Building. He didn't care. The only thing he did care about was staying hidden, and not cutting himself on the broken glass that lay everywhere.
He didn't dare speak. He knew there were at least four angels tailing him. He hoped he had lost them...
Gods, don't they get it?! I'm only one man, How can I do my and Yggdrasill's jobs together?! It's killing me...Ever since Yggdrasill returned from his three-day captivity in Hell, bleeding, missing a wing and an arm, and less than half-conscious, he had been recovering in the Infirmary in Heaven...And all his responsibilities fell upon the second-in-command. Namely, Kratos Aurion.
It had only been four days, but they were the longest four days of Kratos' life. Even now, he felt like he was a human celebrity, constantly chased around by annoying fans the media...
Even now, Reikas wouldn't leave him alone. He'd been constantly harrowing the poor angel to get the seventeen things he needed done, done! Kratos had nearly wrung his neck on occasion, but Reikas knew when to stop.
Kratos closed his eyes, and sighed. Maybe just a little rest...And I'll be okay...He was out in seconds.
-------------------
"Kratos! Kratos, you can't just run away!! Get back here, we need you!!" Reikas, a few blocks away, was zipping through the air with thee other angels on his tail, tryng desperately to find Kratos. The angel had superior speed, and had left the squad behind a few blocks before.
He slowed, and stopped. "Jeez..." he turned back to the others. "We're not gonna find him until he wants to be found. I know Kratos. Return to your duties, thanks for helping me."
"Any time, Lord Reikas," one angel said. They scattered.
Reikas turned, and began heading back. Jeez, Kratos...You're always saying how you can do this alone, and you refuse any help...And yet here you are, running from it all! You arrogant idiot...
Suddenly, he felt something. A spark...of Kratos. He turned once again, and started flying toward the source.
----------------------
"Gah! Let me go!" Yggdrasill struggled against the restraints of the bed he was shackled to. "I'm fine! I need to get back out there!"
"You're not going anywhere, my lord! Your wing is still repairing itself! I'm sorry, Lord Yggdrasill, but we have orders from Lords Kratos, Reikas, and Lady Celestia to keep you here, until you are fully healed." Angels buzzed around the expansive Infirmaty, but Yggdrasill stared at the one beside his bed.
"Those bastards! I'll have Kratos' head, I'll bet he's the one that convinced the others to restrain me!"
"It was a unanimous decision, my lord."
"Shut up!" Yggdrasill continued to stuggle futily. The angel sighed, and she drifted away.
----------------------
"Lady Celestia, we have lost track of Lord Kratos. I'm sorry..."
"No no, it's alreight...I didn't really expect you to find him. When that man doesn't want to be found...He isn't found." Celestia sighed, and relaxed in her throne.
Unlike Kratos and Reikas, Celestia was still in Heaven. It had been she that had sent the three angels out with Reikas to help him in his pursuit...Mostly so that she could keep tabs on him. She was becoming more and more worried with each passing day, and now, with this latest development, she was startng to consider leaving Heaven to actually go out and look for him.
She knew he would probably yell at her for doing such a thing, and endangering herself, and blah blah blah...But did it really matter?
After a few more seconds, she slowly stood.
"I'm going down to Earth," she declared. "To find Kratos myself."

Whoever had said war was hell knew exactly what they were talking about. No matter if you were on the winning side or the losing side, war was exactly that.
And when you were fighting for hell, that just sort of made everything oxymoronic.
The Inu no Taisho sighed and put his head in his hands. For a demon as powerful as he, a few sleepless nights was tolerable. But with all the stress he was put under and all the nights he was deprived of sleep, it was terribly difficult to stay awake.
The demons may have been winning right now, but the war was far from over. And he was very aware of the fact that demons were not as powerful as angels.
That is why the BlackGuards had been a welcome addition to the front lines of battle. Now that they had corrupted angels in the ranks, the demon army had a clear advantage.
He pulled his head up and glanced down at the plans for battle, studying their plan of attack and the strategically placed positions of the BlackGuards and the demons. Deciding that power at the forefront wasn't the best option, he had divided the 12 corrupted angels evenly, three in each of the four lines.
In order to compensate for that division, he had divided the demons by their hierarchy.
The more powerful demons--such as himself, were spread in frontal recession down the lines, with more in the front. Then the midclass demons were divided in reverse recession. The rest of the demons were divided in this pattern all the way to the weakest, leaving each line well protected and bolstering the front lines the most in the process.
When he finished his plans, the Taisho summoned a messenger to his study.
"What is it, my lord?" the man queried in too-perfect Japanese. The Inu no Taisho reppressed a sigh. He hated that more than anything, since he could speak the language so fluently. His past life all but forgotten, the Japanese life he had led for a thousand years was now the only life he knew. He missed that wonderful, peaceful time in which he had lived in the mortal plane, hidden and watching. Then he influenced nothing.
He had even met a demoness, such a beautiful woman, and a dog demoness as well.
At that, his thoughts drifted to his son, now approximately 17 years of age.
Demons born of demonic parents were much different than demons that were created from mortal souls. There powers could be practically limitless, as they have no streak of humanity from experience. As much as he kept it to himself, the Inu no Taisho had once been human, and because of that, he held sympathy for humans, had once protected them as a general of war in a faraway land...
Sesshoumaru had no such heritage. Raised in the mortal plane some time before the war began and born of two demons, he held their power and grew slowly in a way a human never could. Although he was over 2000 years old, he held the appearance of a young man leaving adolescence. Perhaps 17 years old at most.
The Inu no Taisho's only regret was that his son was hardly raised by his parents. Sesshoumaru's was a life created mostly on his own and lived traveling along with his war-general father. And his mother, regrettably, had been killed by an angel...
Died protecting her son, and his inheritance.
Sesshoumaru never knew why his mother protected him so fervently, and his father wished to keep it to himself. But the young demon harbored something so powerful...so dangerous, that it was a threat to his existence. The thought sent a pang of guilt through the Inu no Taisho.
I wonder...what could he be doing now?
Forcing himself back to the present, he handed the man his plans.
"Take this to our Lord. I must have approval from him for the plans."
"I doubt that there will be any issues. Your plans rarely fail, and when they do, it is only by a hairline margin."
The Taisho smirked at the compliment that stroked his average-sized ego.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Sesshoumaru was well aware that he was not allowed to walk amongst the ruins of what his father had told him was once New York City. He knew it would be stupid to go out into the battlefield of the two races of Heaven and Hell.
But that didn't make a difference to him. The mortal plane had been his world for so long now, that he could not simply forsake it for a damned war.
And besides, despite his full demonhood and lack of mortality, Sesshoumaru, son of the Inu no Taisho, was as curious as any human. Tripled.
So he had snuck out of the base, reliant on his claws and prowess in battle to protect him, should he encounter any of those stupid fairies.
Actually, he wanted to see some. Specifically the fairy looking ones.
The Four Greater Seraphim, right? That was it, he thought to himself. What I would not give to parade around with one of their heads. Then perhaps no one would hold it against me that I was born differently.
Sesshoumaru wandered off further, nearing a building his father had once showed him a picture of. The Empire State Building.
Hm. It does not looks so impressive anymore, he thought skeptically.
Kratos slept on, unaware of the impending danger that wandered near. He didn't make a sound as he slept, but he did fall to the side, landing hard against the floor. The action didn't wake him; showing just how tired he really was...Though it did make a soft fwumping noise as he hit the hard concrete floor.
Reikas came from the opposite direction as Sesshoumaru, following his memory, since the spark he'd been folowing had long since died out. He dropped to the ground and retracted his wings (because the Seraphim can do that), approaching on foot. He could sense a demonic power nearby, from the other side of a useless pile of rubble.
Sesshoumaru stiffened, his eyes darting around nervously. He had just heard a sound coming from inside the ruined building. A growl rose in his throat and he protracted his claws.
Not only had he heard that sound, but he could also sense an angelic presence. A sort of...flat one. If it felt flatlike, then that meant that the angel was sleeping, and if it was...well...not flat, then it was active. He sensed a not-flat one approaching.
Father did not teach me this well. How am I to sense an angel if I cannot even tell any difference except for the flat and not-flat sense?! How is that even a concept?
Now that the demon was out here on his own, the thought of an angel actually being around made him apprehensive. And the thought of it having a friend lingering around was almost frightening.
Despite his age, Sesshoumaru did not always behave as an adult should. He preferred to be with young teens, and picked up on their habits.
That aside, he hadn't truly been in many battles, and when he had, they were brief and simple. If you could call fighting an angel simple.
The fact was he knew he wasn't ready. And so he didn't move, hoping the angelic aura would go away.
Reikas edged toward the rubble between himself and the demonic aura. As he got closer, he could feel an energy within...Kratos. It was weak, though...Is he...unconscious? Yes! Reikas tensed as the sudden thought that Kratos may have fought against and lost to this demon.
Oh, by the gods...I have to get to him! He started moving faster, but he kept the ruins between him and the demon still.
Sesshoumaru's fists clenched tightly and he grimaced. Why was he being such a coward?
Now, he could feel the angel ever closer, and judging from the power level, it must have been a strong one. This wasn't just a normal non-flat aura.
I can brag in my head all I want, but when it comes down to the fight, I have to flee! No wonder nobody trusts me with anything, and no wonder I am discriminated against.
Angry at himself for being so stupid, so juvenile, he gave a loud growl.
An angel had killed his mother!! She had to be avenged!! He wanted to fight!
Taking slow, tentative steps, he began to approach the two celestial energies.
(((lol, the tension is building...XD)))
Reikas froze as he felt the energy start to move. Do I...confront it, or wait?
I have to confront it, Kratos feels out cold...He must be powerful to have taken on Kratos...But maybe he's weakened...
Deciding, Reikas, protracted his wings, and leapt into the air, drawing upon his magical energies into spheres of lighning in either hand. He rose up, above the wreckage, and saw the source of the demonic aura...
He froze. What?!? There's not a scratch on him!!! Oh, gods...Who is this?? He hesitated, but his face remained stoic, emotionless. He must be absurdly powerful to have beaten Kratos without a scratch...Or he can recover with frightening speed...No, his clothing isn't torn...
Sesshoumaru felt a wave of cold fear pass through him. Those wings...they were made out of what looked like light beams.
As he caught sight of the lightning, he tensed and prepared to leap up. He'd gotten himself into this--even though it was a one in a million chance that he'd meet an angel--and he would fight if he had to.
His hands began to glow vibrant, poisonous green.
Reikas hesitated, then flew forward, straight at the demon. No time for turning back, you've gotta defend Kratos, Reikas! Reikas reached out, and a bolt of lightning from his right hand streaked toward the demon.
Following his demonic instinct and using his breakneck speed, Sesshoumaru dodged the attack and leapt up, shooting poison at the angel.
"Die!!" he snarled, eyes flashing red for a brief moment.
Reiki blinked. He was sitting on a large pile of rubbe, not to far away from the Demon and Angel. From what he could see, the moment they saw each other they attacked. That confused him the slighest bit. Angels and Demons were at war, but still, he didn't think they would attack the second they met, especially two seemingly rouge ones.
His red eyes followed the Demon, but lept to the Angel when the lightning flew. This should be realatively interesting...
Reikas barrel-rolled midair, tucking his wings in as he fell, then flared them out to dodge the attack and the demon, then caught him mid-leap with another lightning blast. 'No, it is you who will die, Demon," he hissed.
