All Threadfall posts and posts involving the Infirmary go in this thread. This will include the actual Falls, aftermath of the Falls, all general accidents, injuries and routine medical check-ups, as well as any Healer crafting threads dealing with lessons or Healer duties.

Threadfall happens in a set pattern across a weyrs given territory. It always falls from west to east and looks much like silver rain on the horizon. It is in fact clumps of spores that eat anything organic that it touchs. Only grubs, fire and water destroy Thread.
The Weyrleader plans for and leads the fight against Thread. Starfall flies 3 wings of dragons currently, 1 Fighting Wing, the Queen's Wing and the Healer's Wing.
A Wing consists of one Wingleader, two Wingseconds and thirty wingriders. Wingleaders are usually bronzeriders, Wingseconds are usually bronze or brownriders. Almost two thirds of a Wing is comprised of blue and green dragons, who usually do not have the stamina to complete an entire Threadfall, so they are organized into two or three groups which work in shifts, so even a fully healthy Wing does not often fly with all 33 dragons.
A Flight consists of three Fighting Wings, led by a selected Wingleader of the group.
A Weyrflight consists of three to five Fighting Flights, led by the Weyrleader. (Starfall is currently too small to boast a Weyrflight.)
If a Wing is reduced to less than 12 riders due to injury, death or transfer attrition, the Wing is disbanded and Wingmembers are reassigned to other Wings.
Being in the Sounthern Continent we have the extra protection of the grubs, this means Starfall does not have to patrol non-habitated areas, and do not have to put ground crews out unless something has gone really wrong to let more than a single clump or two through the wings.

The Infirmary is set into the base of the cliffs of the weyr, on the right side if you are facing the lake and Hatching Cavern. It is located next to the Weyrling Barracks on the end of the habitated areas.
The main opening is easily large enough to accomodate a full grown gold. Inside there are 2 areas large enough for a gold or bronze dragon and another 5 for the smaller colors. Most dragons do NOT stay inside the infirmary, only if they are not able to get up to thier weyrs and for some reason MUST be kept under shelter. Beyond the dragon area is a human sized infirmary that can handle several dozen humans if need be, but again riders do not tend to stay in the infirmary unless there is no other choice.
Inner hallways do run from the Infirmary behind the Weyrling Barracks and into the Lower Caverns so that it is not necessary to go outside in bad weather to get to the Infirmary.

L'ron had been trying to execute a complicated loop that him and Jarth had been working on for some time. He was responsible and checked his straps and everything before giving Jarth the command. Next thing he knew he was falling Jarth growing steadily smaller before he disappeared behind a barrier of leaves and L'ron hit the ground with force.
L'rons eyes flew open again he stirred stiffly and took a deep breath. His lungs ached terribly and he couldn't move still. "W..." He tried to ask where he was but no words would pass his lips.
He groaned and closed his eyes, trying to remember what had happened. There was nothing in his memory to explain what had happened when he did that loop, nothing to explain why he fell. He took another deep breath and was forced into a coughing fit by a sharp pain.
A coppery taste filled his mouth as he coughed. He lay still and silent, unable to move or call out to those around.

Master Dragonhealer, and bluerider extraordinaire, V'en happened to be passing by when he heard L'ron coughing. Quickly grabbing a jug of water he oured a glass and moving into the cubicle helped L'ron sit up and take a drink. "Easy, little sips. You're ribs got pretty banged up." The older rider said as he gently supported L'ron by his shoulders, not the damaged ribs.

L'ron heard V'en's voice several moments before he was lifted and a glass of water held for him. He took small sips as the healer instructed. "What happened?" He moaned and after a short pause a more frantic question passed his lips. "Is Jarth alright?" He coughed again but not as hard this time. He felt terrible, like a stampede of wherries had chased him off a cliff.

"Jarth is fine, I checked him over personally. He's worried for you of course, but that is all." V'en said with a smile. "Now the Master Healer will be in to see you in a few moments, would you like some more water or just to lie flat again?" The dragonhealer asked with a rather cheeky grin for an older man.

V'en gently eased L'ron back into a prone position. "Try not to cough much even though it hurts just as much to surpress it." He advised and with another smile her vanished back through the curtain that afforded the barest of privacy to L'ron.
A couple moments later and even older and definately wizened man came in, his steps slow and steady. "And just how miserable are we feeling now?" Asked Novaren, the Master Healer of Starfall, as he stepped up to L'ron and bent over the rider with a stethescope to listen to his chest.

L'ron smirked slughtly as the master healer spoke to him. "If misery was described in dragonlenghts. It would be beyond count" He held back another cough and winced as pain ached through his shoulder. He wished he knew what happend, we felt irresponsible and assumed thats what the weyrleader would think to. I checked the straps his mind comtinually repeated.

"Well now that you are awake we can give you a proper dose of fellis. And clean and rebandage that wound once the fellis sets in." Novaran said his tone almost abrupt but not quite. "An apprentice will bring in a fellis drink in a moment, drink the whole thing." He added and vanished back out of the curtain. Sure enough not 30 seconds later a young apprentice appeared with the cup, fruit juice laced with fellis, and offered it to L'ron.

L'ron took the cough stiffly in one hand, the one he was capable of moving, the rest was unmovable. He sipped it and screwed up his face slightly before finishing the rest of the mug.

"Rest sir. That'll make it a lot better." The apprentice said with a smile as he took back to cup and vanished back out through the curtain.
A couple moments later Weyrwoman Mirinda appeared at the curatins edge. "Welladay Bronzerider, you look a good bit worse the wear for your fall. How do you feel?"

L'ron's eyes widened as the weyrwomen entered. great... now i'm so in trouble He thought beffore his reply came slowly and slurred.
"If i am aloud to be honest.... i feel downright terrible, if i wasn't aloud to be honest i would have said i feel fine" He squinted slightly as he spoke before he looked up his next sentance cautious. "I don't know how i fell weyrwomen, i wasn't careless. I checked the straps and everything..." He blinked while staring at the weyrwomen.

"I rather thought you had L'ron." Mirinda replied her tone calming. "But I just came to check on you. Sounds like you've just been dosed so why don't I leave you to rest? We can discuss why you fell another day." She added warmly, she was not about to kick a rider when he was down after all.
