Alright, ST and I have been wanting to do this forever, now I'm going to take a stab at it.
Introducing, Dragons: Fire and Ice, the book!!
Brought together by SD. Concept created by: SnowTiger Co-authored by: SnowTiger Sesshoumaru Hiei Pyris Chance Harebell
Hooray! Intro coming. I figure if you guys poke at me to post once a week, Book one might just get done by 2008.
=^___^=
Oh, I will be needing your help on this one, guys. I'm not kidding about the whole "pokeing me to post" thing. I'm lazy, and if I forget, it's not getting done. And I want it done. As much as anyone else.
Oh, please, I ask you to leave comments in the thing, too, and feel free to directly modify my text if you want something said differently or if you find a typo, but please change the font color to something other than black.
Thanks. Intro coming soon.

I can't wait to start it.
And yeah, ST was the one to write it, but, like, she never got around to it, and she's given me the go-ahead to attempt it.
So I shall! ^^

Prologue In the beginning, there were the two Eternal Dragons. Draco, the Dragon of Ice, and Khyrus, the Dragon of Fire. They warred constantly, battling for supremacy...Their feuds alternately scorched and froze the land, and the wars stretched on for years, decades, centuries...No living creature could stop them, no force could hold them at bay, and the world suffered.
In time, though, they came to realize that neither could best the other, and came to a tentative truce. They divided the land amongst themselves, and settled down amid their opposing civilizations.
For a time, there was peace. The demon tribes of Khyrus' Fire Kingdom lived in relative seclusion, existing among themselves, hardy nomadic hunters of their volcanic land. The adaptable humans of Draco's Ice Kingdom built mighty cities and close-knit towns; the constant cold and their own weakness forcing them to work together to survive.
And then came the Great War...
Tensions between the Demons and Humans, as well as the old rivalry of Khyrus and Draco, finally came to a climax during a famine throughout both lands. The fighting began when demons, who saw the humans as too weak and helpless to deserve the food they had, began to openly raid human cities and towns for their supplies. The humans were more than ready to fight back against the creatures they thought of as little more than animals--barbaric, ruthless savages whom they blamed the famine on in the first place. Humans believed that it was the demons who had eaten all of the food, and accused them of having stolen from the Ice Kingdom for years. The battle was incredibly brutal and bloody. Demons used their natural strength and abilities to massacre hundreds of humans daily, and humans retaliated with weapons and machines. The massive war stirred the Dragons’ bloodlust, and their age-old feud resumed in the sky.
The fighting and bloodshed stretched for over a century, continuing long after the famine ended. Both sides, by that time, had long forgotten what had started the war, but it didn’t matter. Their mutual loathing for one another drove them on, mindless.
Eventually, the humans, with their ever-increasing military power and weaponry, and seemingly endless resources, began to overcome the demons, who for so long had relied on natural ability. Claws proved worthless against cannons, and no punch could shatter an eight-inch steel wall. Demons were driven back to the Fire kingdom, but the humans did not stop there. The kept right on marching until they overtook the Kingdom entirely. As they saw that victory was assured to them, they grew as ruthless as the creatures they fought against. They took prisoners, and began to use them as slaves, experiments, or worse...Demons were subjected to the most horrible of punishments for their crimes, ranging from painful execution to pure torture.
The change of events caught the eye of the two Dragons, and made them pause in their own ceaseless dogfights. They saw the atrocities the humans were committing against the demons, and knew it had to be stopped. The demons were on the verge of extinction at this point; mass slaughter at merciless gunpoint had cause a steep decline in their population, and something had to be done.
The dragons descended upon the humans, and drove them back. No weapons could harm the two; projectiles were frozen or melted in midair, and thus rendered useless. Humans fled back to their destroyed cities, and peace was forced upon the land.
...But it was too late. The demons were all but gone. Very few remained, scattered throughout their land, broken in body and spirit. Their race would never recover.
The dragons, upon seeing the irreparable damage, swore never to fight again. They forced the humans to destroy all their weapons, and burned every plan and schematic. Thus, the records and ingenuity of the war and the human race were lost, forever.
Six centuries have passed since the Great War. Only a handful of demons remain, each one knowing that there is little hope for him in this world, if any at all. Humans have been allowed to populate the Fire Kingdom, forcing those last few demons to wander aimlessly, or assimilate into human society. But none have. Each one has lived through the Great War. Each one has his own battle scars, be them physical or mental. And each carries a secret grudge against the human race for their atrocities. The humans may forgive and forget, but long-lived demons cannot...

Nice! I love the way you ended the Prologue. With that bit of... foreshadowing, I believe is the correct term. Excellent!
