From his vantage point, Kratos could just barely make out what he thought were hundreds of lurking shadows, crawling in and out through the buildings.
He shook his head, and turned away. Kratos, you're being paranoid...He drew the curain closed again, and walked back to the chest, reaching in and fastening his second belt and closing the chest, hearing the soft click of the automatic lock. He headed out of the room, pausing only to glance at himself in the mirror. He smirked. With sword and belt, he looked and felt much more like the hunter he was. Heh...All I need is the round of ammo across my chest and the Indiana Jones-style hat, and I'll be perfect...Shaking his head, amused, he walked out of the room, heading down the stairs and dropping off the door and chest keys at the front desk.
He re-entered the brisk night air, and immediatly began to head for the tavern he'd originally been intent on getting to.

Lucielle leaned closer against the outside of her house from the roof, slowly regaining composure. Her knuckles were white from gripping the handle of her scythe, and her breathing was still heavy. I need a drink... And I shouldn't have talked to that hunter for that long... God. I bet I'm finally going to die...

Kratos continued along, ever alert, looking everywhere at once. You'd think he was paranoid, the way his eyes never stopped moving. Maybe he was...
He froze suddenly as his eyes finally found a resting place on the street. He dashed over to a body lying on the ground, kneeling by it. He grimaced as he saw the gaping wound in the chest, curling up to the neck and piercing the throat.
He's a mortal...but he wasn't killed by a feeding Vampire. Kratos examined the wound. It must have been a large, bladed weapon that killed him. His mind immediately accused Lucielle. She is the only creature I know of, apart from other hunters, that carries such a thing...But she mentioned that she was a hunter as well...What reason would she have to kill a human?
Quickly checking the body, Kratos found no weapons, but a small wallet ID proclaimed the man as a Mr. Michael Levawitz, married and with three children. Kratos' free hand curled into a fist and he gritted his teeth as he saw the pictures of the kids, now fatherless.
He saw the address, a place not far from here, and pocketed the wallet, intent on returning it, the man's wedding ring, and a small crucifix necklace around his neck, which he took from the corpse, to the family. He stood, looking down at that man's frozen expression of fear, into his glazed eyes, as anger welled up within him. I'll bet this man was innocent...Cut down by a rogue Vampire who enjoyed nothing more than the sight of blood...he had a family, and children, who will never see him again! Damn those foul creatures of the night!! Damn them all!!
He looked around furiously, trying to find any trace of the demon who had killed this man...But there was no trace of the silent killer. His entire body tensed and shook with rage as he looked down at the man again.
He couldn't be dead more than a few minutes...I could have saved him, dammit! If I had just come earlier! If I hadn't been caught up in conversing with that wretched halfling, I might have stopped this...He growled audibly, both hands balled into fists now, knuckles white as his nails cut crescents into his palms.
His voice was low and dangerous as he spoke, his tone filled with the controlled anger of a lifetime of pain, suffering, and loneliness. "Vampires, beware...The great hunter Kratos Aurion is coming for you. Count your nights...because they are numbered..."

Lucielle was looking down at Kratos, her eyes filled with a mix of terror and joy. It was so much fun, watching him get angry, but it made her fear for her life. She could very well be the only neutral person in that damned war, with no need to hide from sunlight, no conventional ways of death... And yet, even knowing her half immortality, she was scared to death of what would occur. Her death was almost inevitable, and she knew it. The one way to cheat death was performed 3 years prior, almost to the very day. Either Lucielle would die forever, or be born again...
And only God knew her fate. She scooted sideways, and pushed herself backwards through her window, stepping carefully to avoid making any noise.

Kratos did not notice Lucielle in his rage, and set off at a brisk pace to the address of the man's house. Woe to the Vampire who got in his way, because he would cut any down swiftly and without a word, leaving them where they lay.

She crept downstairs, opening the door to the outside. Both hands were gripping her scythe carefully as she stepped outside. She cast a glance at the late Mr. Levawitz nervously. Her sudden desire to relieve her boredom was most likely her downfall. She knew that the hunter would come back and try to find her. She bent over his corpse, and with the very tip of her scythe, slit the side of his neck. She drew a small flask from her pocket and collected what blood she could before hastily heading back upstairs, locking all the doors after her.

Damn them all...That one thought stayed with Kratos as he strode down the street, pulling out the wallet and re-checking the number on the ID. 'Them,' of course, referred to Vampires, and Kratos' rage and hatred of 'them' burned as brightly as a wildfire behind the hunter's eyes, trained ahead of him. He found the right house, and paused in front of it, pulling out a pencil and scrap of paper, began to write a short note. Mrs. Levawitz--
As much as it pains me to tell you this...Your husband has been murdered by an unknown killer. I found his body and retrieved all personal affects from it that I believe you would like to have, lain here with this note. I know how much this must pain you, but, rest assured, your husband will not be left unavenged. I believe this to have been the work of a Vampire, and, if so, I will hunt him down and make him pay for what he has done to your family.
Sincerely yours, KYMA, professional Vampire Slayer He looked over the note, rereading it, and sighed, pulling out Mr. Levawitz's things from his pocket. He silently crept up to the house, and laid the things on the doorstep, ringing the bell and disappearing swifly around the side of the house. (((***OoC Note: The letters KYMA are Kratos' initials; he always signs every letter with those, andeveryone who knows his name knows his initals, though no one knows what the Y and M stand for. That may come out at a letTer time, depending on if there's an opportune time to reveal them. There is a story behind why he has four initials and not just three, but I'm not going to tell why just yet...)))

(((lol, I can come up with something after Kratos leaves the house...maybe you can go around pretending to be avampire and recruit random NPCs to fight the hunter...that would be intersting.)))
(((Also, if you maybe left a piece of something that Kratos could identify as Lucielle's with the man's body, that would things up quite a bit)))
(((You have a snake that you feed live mice?? SUPER-AWESOME!!)))

((Let's go with the easy route- When Lucielle went and got a refill of her little blood flask, she accidentally gave one side of her hair a little... trim. :3 It's easily identifiable, since her hair is like... Teal.
Yes, I have a snake, her name is Kai, she's two feet long now, had her almost a year. She eats live mice. And she's tried goldfish. XD))
Lucielle sat on the edge of her bed, staring out into the streets anxiously. She ran a hand through her hair, and nearing the ends, she stopped. Something... wasn't right. She stood up, leaving her scythe at her bed, and hastily moved to the bathroom. Flicking the lightswitch on, she stared at her still barely visible reflection. "Damn." She muttered. Her hair was uneven... She bit her lip, realizing that she could be found out, if that hunter came back...
Which she was sure he would.

Kratos dashed through the streets frantically, keeping to the shadows. He couldn't bear the sound of the woman at the door's helpless crying after she'd read the note and seen the things. Her quiet moans and sobs echoed in his mind long after the actual sounds died away. Why...Why did you do that, Kratos?? You knew what she would do...But I couldn't just leave his things their...He was arguing with himself as he ran, gritting his teeth. This whole scenario cut him deeper than any other Vampire attack had before. Because there was something about this attack...something about this man...And his family...and his death...That hurt the hunter like nothing else could.
He didn't realize where he was going until he was almost upon the corpse. He skidded to a halt feet from it. Dammit, why did I come back here?!? He stared down at the man, and was about to turn and sprint the other way...when he noticed something. Something was different...
Unwillingly, but dutifully, Kratos approached the man and knelt down. Another wound...And...blue fibers? Kratos picked up what appeared to be strands of very fine, teal thread, but only realized what they were when he felt them. ...They are...strands of hair! But...they're...Something clicked in Kratos' mind, and filled him with a rage like nothing he'd felt in many, many years...
He staggered to his feet, clutching the lock of hair, raised his head, and shouted the name of the only peson he'd ever encounterd in his life with teal hair.
"LUCIELLE!!! BY THE VENGEFUL GODS ON HIGH, I SWEAR THAT I WILL KILL YOU, AND EVERY OTHER VAMPIRE IN THIS CURSED CITY!!!" He fell to his knees, not caring that every living creature within a three-block radius of his current position, human or otherwise, had heard him. He only hoped Lucielle had. He stared down at the hair in his hand, a hand that was trembling with the newly unchained rage of decades of caged fury.

And, just as Kratos wished, Lucielle heard. The very thought made her enter a state of paranoia, as she crept back into her bedroom, drawing all the curtains shut and locking or blocking any and all entrances. She moved her bed to the corner of her room, near the door, easily. Her breathing was shallow, her eyes darting everywhere. "Damn that Kratos... Damn that vampire..." She muttered to herself, biting her lip in a mix of fear and anger. "Damn this fate," she finished.
She stared blankly at the flask of blood in her hands as she turned it around. She weighed her options; Drink it, and stay alive in her room without sunlight, moonlight, or even murder, or save it for later, save one more shred of her humanity, but die much faster...

"Where...where could she be?? Where can I find her??"KRatos voiced these questions out loud, but quietly, to himself. He fell silent, closing his eyes, still kneeling over the dead father, remembering Lucielle's presence. It had felt like something...and it had been unique, being a blend of human and Vampire. But...what was it??

((Alright... I'm gonna try bringing my character in now, okay? ^^u Here goes...))
Unnoticed by Kratos, a pitch-black wolf with gleaming red eyes lurked in the shadows, watching the Slayer intently. 'So he is declaring war on all the vampires in this city? Foolish...' the wolf thought, its lip curling slightly, revealing gleaming white fangs, razor-sharp and deadly.
