Saige finally wrapped her fingers around her pokeball and pulled it out, subconciously running her free hand through her hair. "Is that a bad thing?" she asked cautiously, fiddling with the button on the pokeball.
((Can you release a pokemon without the whole "<name> I choose you!" thing?))

A young red-headed, blue-eyed youth made his way through the Viridian forest, looking extremely frustrated. His fists were clenched tightly at his sides and the knuckles had long ago gone white.
"Why did it have to happen? Why do I have to do this?" he growled, his lip curling up angrily.
He wasn't strong enough now, and he wouldn't ever be strong enough to beat the trainers he needed to defeat. And unless he found it within himself to win, he wasn't going to go back home.
What good was a guttertrash Pokemon trainer to his family?
Shinra sighed, keeping a keen eye out for any wild Pokemon. He wished he'd brought himself a snack before, because now he was hungry.
After some time, his blue eyes located a tree that bore ripe apples, and he glanced longingly at them. He wasn't great at climbing trees, but he supposed he could try just this once.
What could it hurt?

((Of course. That's just a stupid Ash thing. All you have to do is push the button to release a Pokemon, and do the same then throw it to catch one.))
"I dunno. Must be hard to brush, and it probably gets tangled a lot, but I guess if you like it that way, then...'S not my call." Kitsune shrugged again.
"Hey, so where are you guys headed? I kinda wanna get out of here quickly. I need to get back to a PokeCenter to take care of my Charmander...And this place is crawling with bugs." Kitsune didn't even realize the humor in his last three words. "I don't wanna run into anymore, and if you guys are going in a different direction than me, than I really gotta get moving to get out of here. I came way to far in this time..." He looked around nervously, picking a bit more String off his side.

((Oh, 'nuther thing on Pokeballs--They change size. Press the button once when they're big to make them small or release a Pokemon (I have no idea how that works, but w/e. It's Anime, go figure.), and when they're small, you can store them easier. Press the button to make them big again. Pokemon is an incredibly scientifically advanced world...))

"Viridian." Ross stated. He was on his way there to challenge the gym leader. He'd been training for some time and thought himself and his pokemon ready to take on another real challenge.

"Really?? Then, um..." Kitsune looked down, and shuffled his feet a bit. "C'n...C'n I come with you, then? You're strong...And I don't think I'll be able to get out alone..."

Ross knew that he should have been happy to hear something like that, a compliment, but he really didn't want to babbysit... "Well... Where do you live? In the city?" He asked.

Kitsune looked up, and nodded. "Uh-huh! I just wanna get out of the forest, and I can get back. Just so I don't get attacked by anything again..."

Ross hesitated. The kid wasn't asking him to babbysit, just, watch out for him. Help him if he got in trouble... Nothing hard. "Um, yeah, sure, I guess."

After quite the struggle, Shinra reached a low-hanging branch of the tree. It was there that he'd caught sight of several other talking to each other.
Absently, he leaned forward to listen, munching on the prized apple he had plucked from a branch just above his head.
The tree branch he was on didn't appreciate the shift in weight and protested loudly. Of course, Shinra wasn't fast enough--or apparently even smart enough--to lean backwards.
With a loud crack, the branch gave way, sending the red-head hurtling to the ground. he yelped, landing hard on his chest.

Ross raised an eyebrow, glancing at the fallen kid. Oh no... Not another one.

Kitsune jumped a mile. "What was that!?" he yelled, scared. He looked at where the guy had fallen. "...Who are you?!" he asked, running over to the kid. "Are you okay?"

"Mmeh-heh...sure, right...I'm just peachy..." Shinra replied dreamily.
He soon came to his senses, shaking the craziness out of his head and rising quickly to his feet.
"What're you lookin' at?" he asked, backing up. "Looking for a fight?"
Smooth move, Ex-Lax...

Ross rolled his eyes, "Yeah, I mean, we're completely on our guard ready to attack." He replied, leaning back against a tree. "When people start falling out of trees, people look."

"H-hey!! Don't mock me!!!"
Shinra growled, reaching for a Poke ball. He knew it was stupid to even think of a battle at this moment, but he was angry and insulted.
