Jolteon did his best to follow the Evee with it's eyes. It wasn't long until it lost track... The Evee was fast. "Jolteon! Agility!" It would be stupid to sit there and let Evee attack, when if moving the same speed, Jolteon could dodge. "Thunder!" Lightning flashed about randomly as Jolteon hoped to get a lucky hit.

Saige looked at Kitsune, seeing his discomfort. She leaned towards him a little, nudging him softly. "I take it you don't like battling, either," she said, just loud enough for him to hear. Her hand ran through Ninetails' golden fur.

Kitsune looked at Saige. "Ummm...Well, I'm not good at it," he said softly. "And these guys are strong..."

Saige winked, giving him a reassuring smile. "You'll get better. After you hit the bottom.. The only way to go is up," she said, scratching Ninetails behind the ears.

Kitsune sighed. "Yeah, right...Tell that to my pokemon. They certainly don't believe it," he muttered, shoving his hands in his pockets and shuffling his feet around.

Unsure what to do, Saige prodded Kitsune in the arm with her index finger. "Don't be so negative! You're pokemon are like people. If they don't respect you, the only thing you can do is show them nothing but respect. Then they have no reason to disrespect you," she said slowly, making sure it came out correctly. Why is he such a pecimist?

"I've tried. Doesn't work..." Kitsune rubbed his arm subconsciously where Saige has touched him. "They don't like me, I can tell. I'm not as strong as my dad was..."

Saige rolled her eyes at him, "What an optimist. Maybe if you didn't dislike yourself so much.. They'd like you more." She crossed her arms and looked at the ongoing battle. Hah. Told him, didn't I?

Kit kicked at a stone, his eyes on his shoes. "Maybe. But Dragonaire never liked me. I think she was mad at my dad for giving up on hismelf then giving her to me..."

Saige looked up at Kitsune, feeling the urge to pat him on the shoulder. "I'm sorry. Some pokemon can hold grudges... But... You're not showing Dragonaire that you're any different than your father right now, either."

Kitsune pouted. "Not my fault," he huffed. "Dad never showed me how to raise them...I dunno how to train my pokemon," he admitted softly, his shoulders slumping.

Saige rose an eyebrow, shrugging. "Well, that doesn't mean you have to act so depressed," she said with yet another reassuring wink.

"I'm not, most of the time...Just...when there's Pokemon involved," Kitsune said. "It's hard to be happy without confidence..."

Saige looked at him, a bit confused. "Well... We'll just have to fix that, won't we," she said with a smile, plopping herself on the ground beside Ninetails. "Have a seat, he's really friendly."

Kitsune hesitated. "How? Will you teach me?" he asked, hesitantly sitting.
