This is a teaching RP! teaching comments will be in Red((I'm a fantasy buff myself so we'll go with a generic fantasy RP setting)) <-- OOC comments in an IC post always go in some form of brackets, most of us use double () but just about anything works Setting: An average mountain in an average country where there just happens to reside a dragon, or three. ^ Normally much more elaboratePlot: A misguided hero comes to slay the 'evil' dragon that lives on the mountain. <--- Again usually much more detailed but this is sufficient to learn the ropesYou may play the dragon or the hero, your choice. Your profile should include the following. These are the basic requirements for all RP profiles.Name: Age: Gender: Physical Description: (could be a picture if you have one of the character)Personality: Most RP's will also ask for a Brief History or Background section. And some will ask for Gifts or Powers and other specifics. Please post your profile as your first reply here then I'll post a profile for the other character and then an intro and we'll begin

((Always happy to play a dragon )) Name: Staryn Age: 400+ Gender: Female Physical Description: Personality: A gentle sort of dragon Staryn has seen many the age be born and die. She does not however take kindly to muscle-headed heros that think just because she's a dragon she must be evil.

Story Introduction:
The skies were bright blue, the clouds wispy and white, and the mountain was humming with life. All was normal in Staryn's little piece of the world. But even as the opalescent dragon thought that she could hear the silence fall over the lower mountain near the trails the more adventurous hunters used. As the animals of the mountain froze in fear there was the distinct feel that something was on the mountain. Something that was not an animal or even the usual human hunter.

Now how did I get myself in this situation again? The thought caused the massive being to stop his march up the mountain. The scene from the other night quickly played through his mind.
[FLASHBACK in a Tavern at the base of the mountain] I remember now. I was drinking my fair share when I heard them talking about it.
"....We need to do somethin' to get rid of that dragon."
"What are you talking about? That thing has done nothing to us."
"If we got rid of it though, more people would come to hunt here and not be afraid."
"Who would think about trying to go kill a dragon though? Nobody. So just forget about it."
I remember them thinking I was crazy to offer to slay that damned thing for free, but they do not know my reasons. They will never understand why I travel to kill this dragon, whether it be evil or not. No one ever will.
[PRESENT] A sigh escaped his lips as he marched on forward. His armor jingled in time to his enormous steps, the thudding of his feet echoing all around. The look on his battle-hardened face and the glare in his cold eyes seemed to yell aloud 'I fear nothing, so I do not need to sneak. If I shall fight, they will know I'm coming.'
The Varangian, as he was known, was not considered to be human. In fact, his people were actually much larger than average humans. It could be easily seen by his towering height of 6'7" and the enlarged muscles that could barely fit his armor. It was sad to think that his kind were believed to be nothing more than barbaric monsters that only resembled humans. This was far from his mind at the moment though. He had a job to do, and he was going to do it.
His nostrils flared as he began to catch the scent of the dragon. The scent became stronger as he marched upward. It wouldn't be long until he finally came across what he sought.

((Very nice, only suggestion would be adding an extra retun space between something like a flashback and the present, (or a OOC comment etc), making it a tad more delineated makes it easier to read for some.))
Staryn watched from her cave home high up on the mountain. The huge man comgin towards her was intriguing in his very manner. He didn't come fearfully, as many of the hunters did, and he didn't seem deterred by the steepness of the mountain as he made rather easy work of scaling it once he was past the few vague hunters trails.
Despite the dangerous look of the human, or whatever version of them he was since this specimen was easily larger than any she'd seen in her region for a hundred years or more, Staryn waited for him to get closer. She would see how he acted before she assumed he meant harm, after all no mortal had gotten the best of her since she was a fledging and size really didn't matter to her magics.

As he marched to his own doom or the doom of the dragon, he began to have second thoughts. Is this the right thing to do?
The lumbering warrior stopped once more and glared down at the ground, shadows casting over his face as he thought deeply.
Will you dishonor yourself by killing an innocent creature?
I have no other choice.
You do have a choice. The question is, will you kill the dragon for your own personal gain?
I will if I must, and it must be done.
Must it now?
Yes, I must kill the dragon for my dream to be realized and I'm not going to stop until either I lay dead, or my foe is slain...
His teeth gritted almost so hard that sparks could've spewed from his mouth. His head lifted upward, pointing to the cave in the distance. I shall fight for my dream so long as I have breath in me. His muscles tensed tightly, bulging and quivering as his heart began to speed up. Like a bullet he dashed up the mountain, his legs like pistons as they forced him up closer to his destination. His muscles were on fire, but the rage had consumed him and blinded him from the pain. Such power would be seen as dark energies, but they were not necessarily evil. Perhaps, just used wrongly used for the situation. Blinded by his desire, he lost contact with the world, his mind traveling far away as his body picked up speed.
What inhuman speed it was. The wind cracked and roared as he charged through it. Before he knew it, he was standing before the cave entrance. Still blinded by his bloodlust, the warrior let a booming roar that seemed more animal than human. If the scream of war was any louder, the mountain would've began to shake. After the cry had died down, he took in a deep breath and bellowed.
"Come forth, dragon, because I MUST cut you down where you stand!"
The fire in his eyes grew with each word that passed through his lips and the flames that consumed him manipulated the Varangian into pulling the massive blade from his back and holding it forward.

Staryn blinked a bit at the man thing. Was he crazy? For surely his actions painted him as such. Having moved back from the entrance of her cave at the man charged her home Staryn now moved ever so slowly forward once more. Her gleaming opalescent bulk was revealed inch by glittering inch. Scales as hard as any diamond glinted as the light reflected from them.
"What foolishness is this man thing?" Staryn asked, her human speech perfect in pattern and inflection. "You have no hope of cutting me down." She said and the very confidence in her tone would have made any thinking being hesitate.

His temper seemed to be enraged by the mere sight of the dragon. His hand drew the sword back and he stepped forward, dirt shooting out from underneath his boots as he did so.
"Foolishness? This is not foolishness, dragon. This is the end of your days! I MUST slay you, so why not make it easy for me and lay your head stretched out upon the ground?!"
The glistening of the dragon's hide caused him to lower his sword briefly to shield his eyes. This reckless act made it possible for him to gain brief control of himself once again.
That dragon does not seem evil in any way.
His opposing thoughts slipped from his mouth, "It does not matter." His head lowered again as he battled his conscience once more.
Do not kill the dragon.
His head shook violently side to side as he mumbled, "I must kill it."
No, you do not have to. You just want to for your own personal reasons. Find another way to fulfill your dream.
His head lifted upward, glaring at the dragon with his burning eyes.
"There is no other way. Either I or the dragon must die."

((Note to self (and students) always use spell-check. That last post of mine was horridly spelled! Sorry!))
Staryn stared at the man in utter confusion. He was so very determined and yet he seemed at war with himself. "You are a most confusing human." She finally said. "I will not surrender to you as you have no hope of defeating me, but tell me why you feel you must slay me? Are you even from this region?" She asked.

"Why must I slay you?"
His battle-hardened face stared into a place far away as he thought about it. It seemed like he had almost forgotten when his thoughts reminded him of days long passed. His face cringed as the images passed through his eyes.
"It is becau-"
He stopped suddenly when he realized what he was doing.
"Nice try, foul serpent! You are only trying to make me let down my guard! I am on to you! I will NOT be easy prey for you!"
He let out a growl as he pulled his blade back once more, ready to strike. It was then that a soft whisper escaped his lips.
"And besides...you would not understand. To you, I am probably nothing more than a misguided, muscle-headed hero..."

Staryn sighed dramatically. "That is the sort of image you are portraying. Especially when you just up and decide to kill something that has done you no wrong." The opalescent dragon said. Shifting just a bit her scales caught the sunlight streaming in from behind the man and reflected brightly in all directions. "Strike if you feel you must, you can not harm me and I won't kill you for such seemingly misguided foolishness. If I killed everyone foolhardy enough to attack me, my lair would be riddled with bones, such an uncomfortable atmosphere I think."
((OOC: Helpful hint #38- appropriate use of italics can help illustrate when your character stresses a word or phrase err wait not number 38... oh well lol))

"I did not just up and decide to kill you, dragon. I chose to kill you for my own reasons, and...unfortunately, it does not matter if you did me wrong or not. If I slay you or if I even die trying, I will finally be able to-"
His eyes widened as a spark of fire flashed in them.
"Ha! I almost revealed my reason for coming here. Clever dragon, but not clever enough! Taste my blade!"
He roared once more and charged forward and with a wind-breaking woosh, he swung the blade towards the dragon's armored neck with all his might hoping he could end its life quickly and painlessly.

In a near lightning fast move Staryn pulled back enough from the man's strike that the blade merely slid along the edge of her scales, causing a singing-like sound to echo through the cavern as she then idly swiped her tail about seeking to knock the large man from his feet.
"Enough of this nonsense I do not wish to kill you but I will if you push me further. There can be no good reason for a senseless death." Staryn hissed her tone more edged and almost painful to listen to as she began to lose her temper.

The Varangian's crazed eyes grew as he was consumed by his rage. Unfortunately, his anger made him extremely reckless. He found himself swinging once more, but completely missing the fact that the dragon's tail was coming straight for him. Before he had a chance to notice, it struck him with a ground-shattering thud and shot the gargantuan man into the cave wall.
Staggering to his feet, he let his blade drop. He was amazed that he managed to hold onto it, but that slipped by as he coughed. A small bit of blood came forward as he stared at the ground. What a blow it was to cause such damage. Shaking it off, he pulled the blade up once more and stared into the dragon's eyes.
"What I fight for I am willing to die for dragon. You might not understand it, but let me assure you that what I speak is the truth. To fulfill my dreams, either I or you must die."
