Well, it's gotta be caused by something, right? Some might call it a symbiotic relationship, but it does kind of eat your blood... Maybe it's an alien virus... *starts a conspiracy theory*

Aliens! XD
I like it... SD should still tell us about the Cirque Du Freak stuff (But if anyone else has read the books, care to share with the class? d= )...

Sorry I haven't responded yet, I haven't checked this thread in a while...
As for the fingertip thing, in Darren Shan's Cirque du Freak series, a human is turned by sharing the blood of a Vampire. The Vampire cuts the tips on his fingers with his nails (Which are incredibly strong, able to dig into solid brick and rocks in the books), then cuts the human's fingertips (or the human does it himself, doesn't matter). They press their fingertips together and hold them their, allowing the blood of one to circulate into the other and back.
This can be used to create halflings, as well. A halfling creation would only hold the connection for a certain amount of time, and a full Vampire creation wouls hold the connection for longer.
I'm surprised no one's heard of this before...
I really like it.
If anyone cares, there were two clans of Vampires in the Circue du Freak series--the Vampires and Vampanese.
Vampires: The good, noble type, who only feed to survive. Look like typical Vampires, though pale skin is a result of lack of sun, not lack of true blood or whatever...
Vampanese: Evil Vampires who broke away from the Vampire clan a long time ago. Always kill when they feed. Their skin is purple, and their eyes and nails have turned red from the excess amount of blood they take when they feed.

Interesting...
Another thing that came up. Does a vampire's heart beat? Taking into consideration each of the various Turning methods I'm of the opinion that vampires that are the undead would not have a heartbeat. Vampires created by magic or virus would still be alive and would have heartbeats.
Other opinions?

How would a stake through the heart kill a vampire if the heart doesn't do anything? And why need blood if it doesn't get pumped? I suppose for food, but then wouldn't a stake through the stomach be better?

A stake through the stomach would be a little wiser, yes... Hm. Now I have to think on this all night.

Personally I never did see the point to a stake to the heart, because they always went on and on about no heatbeat... beheading and fire make so much more sense. And how does the blood pump if there is no heatbeat? Why are vampires being staked frequently shown squirting blood if nothing is pumping it out? I've seen some who handled this better than others, but I think the heart thing is generally accepted because a soul or essence is thought to reside there rather than in any one other place. Of course many say a vampire is souless... it's all quite contradictory.

Though, by the name 'Undead', that implies that they're still /vaguely/ living... Gah, Vampires need to be reworked. XD

LOL yes they do, if ever I run a vampire RP I think I'll have to set out very specific terms of what a vampire is or isn't, less confusing. Of course letting there be various types of vampires makes it less predicatable and in theory more intersting... Ah the quandry!

Oo, oo! *Raises hand and waves it around furiously* me me me!!
I know...how about having structures clans, each with different Vampires? That could assimilate all our ideas, with some having a heartbeat, some not, some having the virus, some having different powers, etc. It would all go back to which clan of Vampires blooded a particular human, to determine that new Vampire's attributes!
Hm? Whaddya think?

My idea intentionally too, with the different clans and such. So there's variety, and we can figure out any theories we wish... -short nod-

Coolies, how many clans should there be? And should we make up like Clan posts for each in the Profiles? That way if someone wants to be a particualr clan they can know what is and is not involved with that clan.
I think there should be a limit on how many 'types' of clans there are, though there could always be offshoots of clans that believe differently than the original clan, just share the same attributes. i.e. Good Blood Clan, Neutral Blood Clan and Bad Blood Clan but all are Blood Clan... if you see what I mean.

We all seem to be on the same page here. Good. =D.
There should be three base clans, and I'll allow a handful of smaller, less powerful clans and such. After all of that has been decided, I'll put the choice in the profiles.
