(1 week before Christmas)
With a sigh of happiness Storm placed the tree topper on the gigantic tree that graced the main entryway into Xaviers School for the Gifted. Floating back down to the ground she watched the various ornaments and ribbons settle as her wind died. The students had helped of course, and many of them stood around her watching as little Micahel plugged in the tree bringing the lights to life.
A spontaneous clapping broke out and everyone was happy. The Professor sat off to one side, smiling as widely as any of the children, as he told a Christmas tale to a couple of the youngest children.
Turning away from the tree Ororo shooed the children off to get the presents for under the tree. They had done a drawing this year so that every child would get a gift from one of thier schoolmates and none were burdened with having to buy many presents for thier multitudes of freinds. In addition each of them would get a present from the staff as a whole, though they didn't know that yet.
As she watched the children scatter, some using thier powers to be quicker about it, Ororo looked about for any of the other adults to help with arranging the presents once they began arriving back at the tree.

Logan was off to one side, leaning against one of the doorways, his arms folded in front of his chest, watching the kids.
Despite the chilly weather, he was wearing his usual outfit, a white T-shirt and black pants. No jacket or anything.
Noticing Ororo looking around, he raised an eyebrow at her.
"What?"

"Logan, just the man I need." Ororo said with a teasing glint to her eyes. "I'll need a bit of assistance with the presents once the students start arriving back. We've a lot of room under this tree but we've a lot of students too." She said with a smile, for indeed the schools roster currently included almost 40 young mutants of myriad powers, a tiny roster by normal school standards but for a gift exchange... more than plenty. Adding in the presents from, and for, the staff there would be about 100 presents to place under the huge tree.

Logan's other eyebrow rose to join the first as he sighed quietly.
"Yeah, we do..." he grumbled, shaking his head slightly.
"Why can't you get one of the others?" he inquired, pushing off from the doorway and stalking over towards Ororo anyway, shoving his hands into the pockets of his pants.

"Why because you are here of course." Ororo replied with a grin at Logan's normal grouchiness, deep down they all knew he had a heart of gold, he just didn't admit it. "Now if you'll take the far side I'll take this side. Make the chidlren help too but we don't want them piled precariously so keep a good eye on them." She added and turned to the first student to arrive back, one of the speed gifts of course. "Thank you dear, now just settle it in there right next to the base on the tree skirt." She said and with that the directing began as the students arrived back in ones and twos and the occasional chattering group.

Logan rolled his eyes and did as Ororo told him, taking gifts from some of the returning kids and placing them under the tree.
((Ack... Evil shortness... I really hope I can bring my character in soon, so I can do some better posts... *looks somewhat sheepish*))

It was not too long before the tree was filled with presents, or the floor under it anyway. Standin back to admire the affect of it all Ororo smiled widely. "Wonderful! Now just to wait for the day itself." She said, garnering a few ragged cheers from the remaining students, mostly those that no longer had a home other than the school for one reason or another. Those who could and wished to would spend at least part of thier winter vacation with thier families but far too many of them just didn't have that luxury.
Shooing off the remaining students Ororo headed back to the main headquarters downstairs herself. Now was as good a time as any to make a check of the various systems of the X-men, it would never do to not be ready if there was a holiday emergency.

"Logan!"
Logan quickly stepped to one side, narrowly avoiding being tackled by an enthusiastic teenager with flying black hair.
"Kathy... I didn't think wolves were so hyper," he commented, raising an eyebrow at the girl.
Kathy Wilde, also known as Nightwolf, stood up, dusting herself off and grinning, showing slightly fang-like canine teeth. Her slim yet muscular body was dressed in one of her favorite outfits. Her ever-present steel-toed black boots and black fingerless gloves with steel plates over the knuckles were joined by a pair of black leather hiphuggers with silver chains hanging from a few belt loops and a black tank top with a howling wolf silhouetted against the moon on the chest.
"Actually, you're right. Remember, though, I'm not a real wolf," she retorted, putting two gifts under the tree.
The smaller of the two was wrapped in simple purple paper, with shiny silver ribbon curled expertly, the curls piled on top. The larger gift was wrapped in purple paper as well, but this paper had silver designs scattered over it. There were a few pawprints, a couple wolf heads, and many crescent moons. The ribbons were silver and purple, curled expertly, and the many curls were piled haphazardly on top.
"Two? Who's the other one for?" Logan inquired.
Kathy laughed. "Who do you think? Who's taught me almost everything I know about fighting?" she teased.
Logan rolled his eyes. "Gee, thanks..." he muttered dryly.
Kathy grinned and gave Logan a hug, stepping back quickly before he could object.
"Can you guess which one's yours?"
Logan rolled his eyes and reached for one of the presents. Kathy stopped him, still grinning.
"Without looking at the tag. Or using your nose," she mock-scolded him, her vibrant blue eyes dancing merrily.
Logan let out a mock growl, then, crouching, examined the presents as best he could without touching them. He took in the extravagence of the ribbons, as well as the designs on the paper of the larger gift. One eyebrow went up.
"The big one?" he guessed, looking up at Kathy, who laughed.
"Yup! Betcha can't guess what it is!" she teased.

From a few feet away Professer Xavier smiled. "I hope it is something that will sweeten his temper for the holidays Kathy." He said as he directed his wheelchair a bit closer.
"Why don't you two go see what goodies have been baked today? I'm sure everyone is just drooling while waiting for snack time." The Professor said waving in the general direction of the mansion's expansive kitchen. "I know I am." He added with a light chuckle as he headed himself in that general direction as well. And indeed the smells that premeated the entire bottom floor, and probably half of the upper ones, made one think of warm winter days sitting by a fireplace with hot chocolate and cookies. Someone was definately a holiday baker though the Professor would never tell who.

Kathy grinned.
"They actually make something like that?" she said in mock-amazement, ducking as Logan took a half-hearted swipe at her.
"Hey! It's the truth!" She stuck her tongue out as they both followed the Professor.
Logan rolled his head on his neck as he walked.
"About time..." he grumbled. "The kids had me so busy arranging presents, and this smell's been drivin' me crazy!"
Kathy laughed. "Yeah. I was holed up in my room, finishing my wrapping, and I could smell it from there! Smells good, too. Really good."
((Wanna know what Logan's present is? *grins* It's something he kinda needs... *sweatdrop*))

((Let's wait and see if we get to RP the unwrapping, more fun that way lol.))
From the dining hall, next to the kitchens, the sounds of at least a couple dozen youngsters could be heard as snack was served. The sight that met one was normal seeming enough, until one realised that at least one tray being passed about was seemingly moving under it's own power. As for the trays themselves... They were heaped with cookies of all sorts as well as various hard rock candies and shaped chocolates. On the buffet lining one wall was various pitchers of drinks, everything from water to fruit juice to a carefully watched punch bowl.

James entered the dining hall after having put his present under the tree.He walked over to one of the floating trays and took a candy off of it and attempted to bite it. "owe" James spit out the hard candy alone with a small piece of his tooth and threw them away. "Great."

Kathy laughed as James broke a tooth on the rock candy. Taking a piece for herself, she popped it in her mouth.
"It's rock candy. You're s'posed to suck on it, not try to bite it," she said around the lump in her cheek.
Logan shook his head and grabbed a couple of chocolates, then made a beeline for the punch bowl. ((Lol.))

Besty Braddock, aka Psylocke, stood near the punchbowl, keeping both her normal sense and her telepathy on alert for attempts to 'add' to the mix. She was dressed for once in normal everyday clothes, though they had a bit of posh to them as she was from a well-to-do English family, but at least she wasn't wearing her rather flashy and very tight uniform. Smiling widely at Wolverine she looked past him significantly. "Still have a tail?" She asked, affectionately enough referring to Kathy.
